Tim Reece Celebrates His 500th Broadcast

Recently, Tim Reece, Vol State’s very own athletic media coordinator, celebrated his 500th broadcast. As a retired FBI agent, Reece ran his own investigation business until it was shut down by COVID. A silver lining appeared, however, when the Full Count Rhythm program, under Full Count Ministries, was able to host Reece. Here at Vol State, he began broadcasting baseball, and the rest is history. Soon, the voice of Tim Reece would become a familiar one across all Vol State sports broadcasts.

The softball and baseball teams have completed their regular season. This month, they will be participating in their post-season tournaments.
Softball
The softball team will travel to their Region 7 Tournament, hosted this year at Columbia State Community College. The tournament runs May 5-9. Their first game is Sunday, May 5 at 3:00 p.m.

There is an exciting atmosphere for fans and players alike as the basketball teams are showcasing their skills in tournaments and the softball and baseball teams are gearing up for their games. The dedication and teamwork displayed by these athletes highlight the competitive spirit that drives them towards success in their respective sports.

Vol State Baseball Alumni Weekend in April
Volunteer State Community College will hold a Baseball Alumni Weekend on April 8 and 9. Any former baseball players, coaches, and managers are invited to attend. A dinner will be held for alumni and current players on Friday night. Hospitality tents for alumni will be held at the pavilion on the right field side of the field before, during, and after games. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be available at the tent. The games will be versus Southwest Tennessee at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 8 and a double header on Saturday, April 9 starting at noon.
McGuire Hired as Vol State Baseball Coach
Jim McGuire has been hired as the new head Baseball coach at Volunteer State Community College. He was the head coach at Middle Tennessee State University from 2012 to 2018. He was also associate head baseball coach and assistant baseball coach at MTSU, going back to 1993. He was most recently the director of Baseball Operations at Hit after Hit Baseball Academy in Nashville. In 2020, McGuire was inducted into the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
