Gallatin, Tennessee – December 18, 2025 – Volunteer State Community College (Vol State) was honored to celebrate the accomplishments of this year’s High School Equivalency (HSE) graduates during a ceremony held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in Caudill Hall on the Vol State Gallatin campus. The service recognized the hard work, determination, and persistence of students from across the region.
Adult Education is celebrating a year of growth and achievement as 74 students have earned their HSE diplomas through the program! With classes offered in multiple subject areas—including Reading, Language, Math, Science, and Social Studies—the program continues to play a vital role in helping adult learners reach their educational and career goals.
“Our adult education graduates embody perseverance and purpose,” stated Nicholas Bishop, Vice President for Economic Development and Strategies. “They have balanced work, family, and personal responsibilities while committing to their education, and that dedication will serve them well as they explore new opportunities. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to the contributions they will make in strengthening our workforce and our communities.”
Enrollment remains strong across Vol State service areas, including Springfield, where a growing number of community members are taking steps toward completing their education. Among those attending classes are students from the Hope Center, a residential program focused on supporting individuals in recovery. Twelve Hope Center residents are currently enrolled in HSE classes, with additional students expected to join in December. One Hope Center student has already become the first graduate from the program, marking a proud moment for both organizations.
The program is also pleased to offer classes in the Sumner, Robertson, Macon, and Smith County jails, where forty individuals have earned their diplomas this year!
The success of these students reflects Vol State Adult Education’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible pathways for adults to earn their diplomas and improve their futures. Program instructors and staff continue to support learners through personalized instruction, flexible scheduling, and a welcoming learning environment.
High School Equivalency graduations are known for their energy and sense of accomplishment, and this year’s ceremony promises to highlight the transformative impact of adult education within the community.
