GALLATIN, Tenn.- December 30, 2025 - Volunteer State Community College is pleased to announce several new additions to its Athletics Department, reflecting the continued growth of Pioneer Athletics. The college has welcomed a new Assistant Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer, along with head coaches for its new women’s soccer and women’s volleyball teams. These additions reflect Vol State’s commitment to expanding athletic opportunities and supporting student-athlete success both on and off the field.
Justin McKinney has been named Assistant Athletic Director after serving Vol State in multiple roles, including Chair of Health and Physical Education and Athletic Trainer. He will play a key role in launching the college’s inaugural women’s soccer and volleyball programs. Known for his commitment to student success and community engagement, he has been instrumental in shaping the growth of Vol State Athletics and supporting student-athletes both academically and competitively.
Brad Swope joins Vol State as Athletic Trainer, bringing more than 40 years of experience supporting student-athletes across Middle Tennessee, including work with local high schools, Volunteer State, and Tennessee State University.
Taylor M. Mott has been named head coach of the new women’s volleyball program, bringing extensive collegiate experience from Austin Peay State University and Flagler College, including leading Ohio Valley Conference beach volleyball championship teams.
Tye Cole has been selected as head coach of the women’s soccer program, bringing more than 25 years of collegiate and club coaching experience, in player development, recruiting, and program leadership. Previously, he served as the head women’s soccer coach at Averett University and as an assistant coach at the University of West Georgia. Most recently serving as Director of Coaching for Tennessee United Soccer Club.
“The growth of Pioneer Athletics reflects the momentum we are seeing across the college,” said Bobby Hudson, athletic director at Volunteer State Community College. “By adding new teams and leadership, we are investing in our student-athletes and the future of the athletics program.”
