Paralegals play an important role in Tennessee law firms. They assist lawyers in providing legal services to clients, they help firms keep costs to clients lower, and they free up time for attorneys to serve even more clients. The paralegal profession is also growing; the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) anticipates a 10% growth in paralegal jobs, equating to an additional 35,300 paralegals needed in the next eight years. 

Volunteer State Community College is excited to introduce a new pathway to obtain a Limited Residential Contractor License (BC-A/r) in collaboration with RocketCert. This course is fully online and self-paced, allowing students to learn at their own speed, on any device, and from any location with internet access. The training is designed to equip contractors with the essential skills and knowledge needed to manage single-family dwelling projects valued up to $125,000, without the requirement for state exams.

We are excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week from November 17-23, 2024! This year's theme is "How to Start an Apprenticeship Program." Join us to hear from industry experts about the steps to launch an apprenticeship program and discover how it can benefit your company.

Graduation was held for Upper Cumberland Phlebotomy Technician students on Thursday evening, May 16, 2024, at Celina City Hall. The students began the Phlebotomy Technician course in January 2024, at the K–8 School in Celina. Students balanced school with family and work responsibilities, some also taking other courses at our Upper Cumberland campuses.

Vol State is excited to announce its first federally registered United States Department of Labor Apprenticeship for manufacturing. Several years ago, Vol State operated an apprenticeship program in hospitality. The registered apprenticeship with Hutchinson focuses on advanced manufacturing and is connected to the college’s mechatronics program. The apprenticeship launch was made possible thanks to the MIDAS grant in partnership with the Tennessee Board of Regents.

We are thrilled to announce an exciting development in Vol State's Adult Education program: the introduction of ESL sessions tailored specifically for employees in local warehouses and factories who do not speak English fluently.
