The Student Government Association (SGA) was established to be an avenue through which student interests and needs may be expressed. It provides students the opportunity to work with college administration officers in matters affecting the welfare of the student body. The SGA works with all student organizations to maintain and improve the quality of student life both on and off campus.

General Assembly
The General Assembly is SGA's bi-monthly meeting. The purpose of the General Assembly is to discuss ways to further improve student life on campus and to give the students a voice in the governing process of the college. SGA also has various committee meetings that address more specific aspects of SGA. General Assembly strives to have a variety of representation. Each club on campus has a representative at General Assembly and there are also Senator positions available to all Vol State students (some GPA requirements apply).
SGA General Assembly will meet every other Tuesday at all campus locations or via zoom at 2:00 p.m. starting Tuesday, January 31, 2023
SGA 2023-2024 Interviews
SGA positions are open for the 2023-2024 academic year:
Student Government Vice President
Serves as the right hand to the SGA President and chairs the Christmas for the Kids committee in the fall semester and the Elections committee in the spring semester. The position is the speaker of the house, creating the agendas and running the General Assembly meetings. The position requires the ability to speak in public and communicate with the student body.
Student Government Secretary of State
Serves on the SGA Executive Cabinet, chairs the Constitution committee, records meeting minutes & attendance for all board and general assembly meetings. This position requires written communication skills as well as organization skills in record keeping.
Student Government Attorney General
Serves on the SGA Executive Cabinet, chairs the judiciary committee, swears in all incoming officers, has knowledge of the SGA Constitution, and keeps meetings in order. This position involves both verbal communication and conflict management skills.
Campus Activity Board (CAB) Chair
Serves on the SGA Executive Cabinet, chairs the CAB Committee- assists the Office of Student Engagement with event planning, event advertisement, and other event logistics. This position involves communication and public speaking skills. This position is for anyone interested in event planning/event management and learning those skillsets.
Campus Activity Board (CAB) Rep.
Serves as the right hand to the CAB Chair and takes all CAB meeting minutes. This position involves communication and organization skills.
Branch Campus Student Government Regent
Serves as the highest appointed for SGA at their respective campus (Cookeville, Livingston, or Springfield) and assists the SGA President, performing duties assigned by the President and/or SGA constitution. The position attends SGA meetings via zoom and requires the ability to communicate and learn new skillsets.
Branch Campus CAB Regent
Serves as the highest appointed for CAB at their respective campus (Cookeville, Livingston, or Springfield). Works with the Coordinator of Student Services to plan, promote, and implement activities at their respective campus. This position attends SGA meetings via zoom and requires the ability to communicate and learn new skillsets.
