Volunteer State Community College offers an A.A.S. degree in Mechatronics in Gallatin and Cookeville.

Mechatronics is the blending of engineering fields including mechanical, controls, electronic and computer engineering to automate manufacturing, distribution and complex services through multiple industries.

The Mission of the Mechatronics Program

The mission of the Mechatronics Technology program at Vol State is to provide the academic knowledge and practical experience necessary to prepare students for employment as highly skilled mechatronics technicians. This program is designed for students interested in getting into the workforce quickly with the technical skills that employers demand.

Siemens Certification

Volunteer State Students in Mechatronics will be prepared to certify for Siemens Level 1 and 2. This certification is recognized both locally and internationally as a mark of superior training. To learn more, click on the Siemens website

Level 1 Assistant

At this level - A Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Assistant would carry out their work at plant assembly sites, workshops or in connections with service operations which utilize complex mechatronic systems.

Level 2 Associate

At this level - A Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Associate can manage, investigate, repair and troubleshoot mechatronic systems, with the aim of operational efficiency and cost and process control.

Level 3 Professional

Obtained with transfer to APSU in partnership with Vol State At this level - A Siemens Certified Mechatronic Systems Professional will be able to apply selected project and system engineering practices, like requirements engineering, project management, process management, quality assurance & management, etc. in a project, with the goal to design or improve a mechatronic system upon customer and user needs.
