Job Description


The Compliance Specialist reports to the Vantec Hitachi Transport System (USA), Inc. Compliance & Risk Manager. This role will primarily serve as a point of contact, alongside the Compliance & Risk Manager, regarding internal compliance and trade control matters across all Vantec Hitachi Transport System (USA), Inc. business units for both national and international business activities for the company.

Essential Functions

• Performing tasks safely
• Ensuring area housekeeping requirements are met
• Abiding by all OSHA rules and Vantec Hitachi Transport System (USA), Inc. safety practices
• Meeting established procedures and productivity, safety and quality standards
• Meets attendance & punctuality standards
• Communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
• Ensure day-to-day monitoring of all exports and imports of all business units
• Audit import/export documentation; resolve discrepancies, request appropriate corrections, reconcile or
protest as appropriate
• In cooperation with the Compliance & Risk Manager, ensure that the business is in compliance with US
import/export and other local regulations
• Participate in and lead training activities as required
• Assist Compliance & Risk Manager in evaluating all new government agency requirements to ensure import
and export compliance with changes and incorporation into day-to-day operations and standard operating
• Maintain required import and export documentation according to US and local law and corporate policy
• Work with both internal and external partners to measure and define trade compliance process and drive
• Assist in internal import/export compliance audits, risk assessments and process improvement plans
• Responsible for record keeping including government required compliance documentation
• Evolve the company’s shipping and compliance processes in line with changing requirements
• Additional duties as assigned
• Approximately up to 25% travel required

Experience Requirements and Preferences

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong working knowledge and experience in PC and business applications, spreadsheets and databases (Excel,
Power Point and other Microsoft office suite applications)
• Proven strong business acumen
• Knowledge of standard export/import concepts, practices and procedures
• Experience working in a regulated environment and/or international logistics/transportation/customs brokerage
and working with global customers/partners
• Demonstrated ability to make timely, effective decisions consistent with regulatory and internal policies,
procedures and legal requirements
• Fluency in English
• Must pass criminal background check

Education: Bachelor's degree
